Arsenal boss Wenger happy with Mannone despite error

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger isn't concerned after a gaffe from Vito Mannone against Birmingham City.

The young Italian goalkeeper was at fault for Lee Bowyer's goal in the 3-1 win, but Wenger told the club's website: "He's a young goalkeeper. You have to accept that no matter the age of a goalkeeper that can happen.

"In the Premier League you are always challenged and he should have certainly fisted the ball out.

"The good sign was in the second half it didn't affect him. He came out for crosses, he saved a good cross and that could have been an equaliser, so it didn't affect him mentally. That's very good."
